I like to put some hockey quotes at the end of emails to parents. They can be inspirational, funny, insightful, etc.
Some examples:

"Coaching is not about equality, it’s about inequality. You have to try to find a way that they can contribute with their skill set and be successful for the team." -Barry Trotz
"A team isn't a bunch of kids out to win. A team is something you belong to, something you feel…something you have to earn." -Gordon Bombay
“You have to trust the process” – Anders Lee
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. -Wayne Gretzky
“All hockey players are bi-lingual. We speak English and profanity” – Gordie Howe

Any good ones to add? I know you guys have some great knowledge of hockey history. I'm getting bored of the ones I've used already this year.

Gordie Howe was once asked why he didn't wear a helmet when he did wear an athletic cup. Howe replied, "You can always pay someone to do your thinking for you."

 While I like it, I'm not putting that in emails to my 12U girls team. Also won't put in when Jack Adams told Howe's Red Wings to "stay out of the crease" during the season, especially playoffs, so that they'd be meaner.

I had a 365-day calendar way back in the day with quotes and numbers I think. I can really only remember one quote.

"They talk about losing a step. I never had that step to lose." - Larry Murphy

Thanks guys. For all the hockey knowledge around here you've been as helpful as an anchor to a drowning man.

It's been said a lot, but I think I remember Jordie Benn or Mike Weaver once saying: "I'm a stay at home defenceman, although some coaches probably wish I just stayed home."

Also, Jordie Benn explaining why he became a defenceman and his brother a forward: "I figured it was too much skating, so I wanted to be a D-man.”
