Just as an FYI Habs/Leafs on Apr 6th is his final call. Although the NHL and CBC did a fine job of killing HNIC.....he's an icon

I'll be watching from the Habs' official restaurant. Unfortunately they'll have the game only in French.

Wow! What a game that was against the Leafs.....Poehling scores a hatrick and then get the winner in the shootout! Story book start for Poehling and a memorable closing for Bob Cole! Happy Trails!

Geez, that was quite the barnburner. Saw a good chunk of it on NHL Network.

That was quite a run, though I can't really appreciate it since I didn't grow up in Canada or have regular access to HNIC broadcasts. Nevertheless, you weren't a hockey fan if you didn't know the guy's name.

Had to wade into hockey journalism's cesspool for this story--Steve Simmons speculated that Don Cherry might get the axe, but he very quickly replied that he isn't going anywhere.

I really don't care either way, if Grapes wasn't there they'd probably put in someone far worse. And hey, he almost singlehandedly boosted the Carolina Hurricanes' international profile!
