The Hawks are close to great. The rest? Not so much.

The Hawks are unreal - even without Toews. They completely dismantled the Canucks last week after being down 3-0 in the 3rd to win the game. Barely lifted a finger for 2 periods then decided they wanted to win.
Quite an impressive display of speed, skill and utter dominance. [insert Canuck joke here]

No. The question should not even be asked until after the playoffs when Chicago may have won their 4th Stanley Cup. If that were to happen I would call Chicago a great team which I would consider to be equal to the 1990's - 2000's Detroit teams.

Mine too. We should switch from our yellow/red combo to green and take advantage of this advanced stat.

Small sample size. I think over the long run red has shown to be the winningest, so stick with it.

I think the bigger question is whether or not the current system (salary cap, points) is actually creating parity or merely the illusion of it. No doubt the Avs are an absolutely TERRIBLE team, yet I keep hearing Joe Sakic and others saying they're only X amount of games below .500. Well, sorry, but that's just sugarcoating. They're a bad team, and so are a lot of others, yet so many are able to hang on thanks to things like loser points. Might be high time to change to a three-point system, which I can't stand but if we're just not bringing back ties then that's the only other solution.

I'll admit though that right now the top teams (except for SJ) sure look like a big smoke show. Chicago to me seems like the only club that can somehow find a way to keep those unsustainable numbers going, Toews and Kane and Keith are just that friggin' good.

Amazingly, Toews Kane and Panek together is one of the worst 5-5rel possession lines in the league. Detroit has one of them in the OttMillerGlendening line.

The worst? Vanek, Nyquist and Larkin.

Goal diff leaders this year:

Caps +55
Wild +50
Jackets +48

Caps make sense, but the other two!

We're almost there. The Metro teams are as solid as ever in the goal differential department:

Caps +78
Jackets +63 (!!!!)
Pens +43
Rags +39

The Wild have won 1 game in their last 10 but still have a +49 differential. They still lead the West.
