I read that 10% of players on opening day are eligible for the Calder.

McDavid, Matthews and Laine are dominating the highlight reels. Goals are in abundance.

I don't know how long this will last, but for now, hockey's looking as exciting as its been in years.

Scoring will be up because of both the youthful talent and youthful mistakes. If the youthful talent cost the same or less against the cap as a thirty something defensive grinder then may as well go with the youth. So yeah my guess is it is just an evolution of the cap.

Wait til goalie pads shrink. It's going to be like football scores.

I feel like the outright Keystone Kops-level goaltending is helping this youth movement. I don't remember seeing such bad netminding to start a season, just across the board bad. Even King Henrik has had some epic flubs so far.

Not that I'm complaining. This has been fun to watch.

Jimmy Howard has been flawless and Wings don't really have any Calder-worthy guys so I really have no idea what you guys are on about Av and Erik.
