Kings let Sutter and Lombardi go and replaced with Robitaille and Blake. Heads are rolling quickly this off season

I'd take Sutter & Lombardi on the Isles in an instant.

Lombardi I could kinda see, but Sutter!? That's ridiculous.

The Kings IMO are very much an unconventionally-built team. I think Blake and Robitaille are in for a very rude awakening if they think they can turn this one around in a hurry.

Retirement is for chumps: Hitch goes back to Dallas.

The Kings had their run, won two Cups, but they kept the band together too long and now they're in for a slow decline while their big ticket contracts (Brown, Gabbo, Quick, arguably Kopitar if he's in decline) run out. I don't mind dropping Lombo and Sutter, but Blake/Robitaille seem like stay the course types and not the breath of fresh air they truly need.

Supposedly Vegas will be announcing their coach tomorrow. Gotta be Sutter, no?

Yes, Friedman just said it would be Gallant

Gallant it is. McPhee/Gallant is a solid duo, if you ask me.

Compares favourably to Poile/Trotz and Risebrough/Lemaire. Way better than MacLean/King and Waddell/Fraser.

Wow. At least if Gallant gets fired & left on the street again, he'll find plenty of potential companions for the night in Vegas.

Bylsma and Murray fired in Buffalo. At the behest of Jack Eichel, one assumes.

That's some crazy shit.

A curious move, but I had wondered if Murray was in a bit of trouble. His attempts to bypass the rebuilding process were rather strange at times. The O'Reilly pickup was IMO a masterful move, but others, like giving big contracts to Islanders castaways, didn't seem like the right way to go.

BTW, I posed this question in the Avs HF Forum: When's the last time you remember a sports franchise finishing last in its league by a VERY sizable margin, and no one, I mean...NO ONE...got fired? Seriously, I can't think of a single, solitary instance. So far we've seen a whole LOT of coaches and GMs fired, and yet all is quiet in Denver. I'm not advocating for Bednar to get the boot, nor do I think heads should roll just for the hell of it, but everyone has to admit this is really, really weird.

John Stevens, who's been paid head coach money by LA for the last few years, officially named Sutter's replacement.
