The Flames at 18-1 look good to me. Jay Bo is a huge difference maker, as is the coaching change.

As for THN picking Philly, there's really nothing wrong with that pick. They've got depth and talent everywhere... but goal. But hey, the Red Wings won with the same problem, so it can be done. The problem with the Flyers is that Stevens doesn't have them playing airtight in their own zone yet. If he could do that, then I'd think they're a very logical pick.

It'll be funny if the Flyers trade for Biron back at the deadline, though.

The Hockey News have chosen the Philadelphia Flyers as their 2010 Stanley Cup Champion pick.

Who overachieves -- Emery or Boucher?

edit: Or midseason replacement J.S. Giguère?

Right, and I can see some teams that started very poorly last year (like Pittsburgh)

As some teams do better, others must drop (even if they're not that much worse
than a year before)

Besides, comparing the players the Bruins have lost to what they've gained....
I don't have much faith that they'll be "better" , that's for sure
With no cap room to re-sign Kessel, where are those 30-40 goals coming from?

A healthy Sturm, healthier Bergeron, Recchi, and I also expect a big jump from Wheeler, who hit the college rookie wall in a big way last year...

I'm not worried about scoring... I'm worried about the complete lack of depth on the back end...

Isn't Krejci out until December? I think there's still things to worry about offensively for the B's, and CJ's team defence strategy should continue to keep the goals against down.

Kessel may be... I dont think Krejci is out quite that long... but those two are also why I see us taking a step back...

I think Sturm's is the contract they need to lose ... somehow
He seems to play big in big games, but when was the last time he was healthy
in a big game
I also don't like how he goes on autopilot for long stretches during the regular season
like he needs something to light a fire for him

good luck... i suppose vancouver or minny or someone else hard up for scoring might take him for a mid round pick, but you wont get more for him... better to let him play out the contract and see if he rebounds at least a bit...
