Re: Meet the new Cup Final. Same as the old Cup Final.
Yeah I am watching it. Pro Canucks affiliate take on Panthers affiliate. Fun to watch. Loads of mistakes in the classic overmatched underdog v. stacked team. 3 games go back to Abby this week in the 2-3-2 scenario. Good stuff. 1-1 heading into game 3.

Panthers take game 2 in 2OT. Marchand nets a softie between the wickets on Skinner from up the gut on a partial breakaway. 2nd goal of the game from inside up the middle for Marchy.
What a series!!!

Deboer really is a piece of shit. He needs to take some serious to reflect. Players pushed him out. Good thing he has year to get paid to not coach.

Not sure how I feel about the Foote signing. I mean, he doesn't really have any professional head coaching experience. And no, I am not counting the debacle with the Kelowna Rockets.

This seems bloody likely. I say it happens within a year. There's no point hiding from it.Pokecheque wrote:The team also lacks a clear-cut #1 defenseman. Re: Introducing...the Utah Mammoth
My fear is the Bolts will dump Jon Cooper after this postseason, especially if they fail to advance past the Cats.
If he's a free agent, both he and Ryan Smith have a good relationship. No doubt he'll be given whatever he asks for $$$-wise from that guy and take over. He could go to Vancouver if ...

Re: The 2024-25 NHL Coaching Watch
I was thinking about Cooper as well. Is it time? It might be.
He will be highly sought after if so. I wonder if it is a good idea to invest in these types of coaches straight after their long tenures come to an end. They might need a gap year, but then again, timing is ripe with all of these ...

Re: The 2024-25 NHL Coaching Watch
Tocchet will not be returning to Vancouver to coach next season. Add the Canucks to the head coaching carousel. Probably a blessing in disguise. Their playing style was over scouted and got stale fast, and he has no new ideas.

ECQF: Panthers vs. Lightning
Well then, what in the actual fuck was that hit by Ekblad on Hagel? After the late cheap hit by Tkachuk on Guentzel in game 3 no less. Couple of chumps. No supplementary discipline. None.

Re: The 2024-25 NHL Coaching Watch
I said it elsewhere, I'd LOVE to see a coaching swap between Vancouver and Pittsburgh. Sully goes to the Canucks, Toc heads back to the Penguins. That'd be crazy as all hell but not outside the realm of possibility.

Ullmark has been meh. Overall Ottawa has been undisciplined. Green is being, well, Green. Not a great combo. But they are young. They'll learn. Hard to believe it's the Leafs who are now the more experienced team with poise.

Brough posted that the Canucks are now locked in at the 15th overall pick, with a small chance they could jump all the way to 5th.
If it ends up being 10th, trade it away, do not fuck with that mojo. Back in that bloody mushy middle. Should have traded Suter for a 2nd and Boeser for a 1st at trade ...

100% agree.Pokecheque wrote:They've got to eradicate these division-heavy first rounds. It's just stupid beyond belief not to do matchups based on 1-8 conference seeding. I would eradicate divisions and wild cards entirely and just go straight-up 1-8 with a play-in round for that 8th and final spot.

Re: 2024-2054 Season - Not all doom and gloom
Man, what a listless effort by the Kings in meaningless game 82. I say lop a few games off the regular season and do a mini play-in series for the final playoff spot, then seed them 1v8 in each conference. I am sort of getting sick of the same old match ups every year in round 1. Great matchups mind ...
