Re: 2026 Prolympics
Nate missing from practice today. Seems to be nursing an injury (knee?). He hasn't been great this Olympics and seems to be struggling to find a groove. Hope he can turn it up if he plays in the QF.
He's got 2-3-5 in 3 games, that ain't bad, but I also think Cooper is kinda being stupid using ...

GORD! I highly doubt they would fire him before season's end, but stranger things have occurred with this franchise. Not sure about the Hughes connection as he knew he would be gone before the end of last season anyways. He probably endorsed it because they knew he liked Foote.

Calgary has much more depth than Vancouver so this is a good start. Now they need to keep doing it over and over again. It's about selecting well, yes, but their odds of hitting on the picks increase with volume. Simple volume proposition at this point.

Re: Nucks 25-26, finding news ways to piss me off once again.
Vancouver still needs more draft capital (beyond just the pick acquired in the Hughes trade), and the club should continue to look at trading veterans post-holiday freeze to accumulate picks — even if they’re winning some games now. Actions pre trade deadline will reveal the truth of their intentions.

Yes "by" July 1. That they can offer it though, is an advantage, just like the Canucks have done before.

Re: Quinn Hughes to Minnesota
Thanks Bosc. Under the circumstances, it was a solid return and likely the best available. Buium is the piece that makes the trade defensible on paper.

Re: Quinn Hughes to Minnesota
This was a Sophie’s choice of management’s own making. Hughes made it clear internally that he had no intention of re-signing in Vancouver, leaving the organization trapped in a no-win decision. That dysfunction bled into everything. Tocchet’s departure, a lifeless start to the season, and the ...

Wouldn't surprise me if he is Canada's starting goaltender at the Olympics.
Okay that might actually surprise me. I realize Binnington is off to a horrendous start but are they really gonna go with Wedgewood over him!?

I realize another piece or two would probably need to go back the other way to make the dollars work -but it’s still fun to look at.

I agree. The officiating is horrid in this league. All this ticky-tack bullshit and still nobody knows what the fuck constitutes goaltender interference.
