Another shootout, another loss. Good God do they suck at those.
Avs play a sloppy, ugly game and get a point but it wasn’t nearly as lopsided as the shot count would suggest. Too many guys are running ice cold right now and can’t buy a goal. Might be limping to the Olympic break.

Nuke back in against the Ducks.
More tweaks to the still-not-good power play, now it's Olofsson (who finally scored in God knows how long last game) on the top unit while Lehkonen (who also finally scored in God knows how long last game) demoted to the 2nd.

So weird that both the Jackets and Kraken went on hot streaks after the Mason Marchment trade.

Re: 2025 -2026 Season: All aboard the Wolf Train
I'm reading the Bruins offered up Mason Lohrei, a first rounder, and more, not sure what the "more" entailed but I think I'd rather have Whitecloud.
So...what happens on these boards in a trade between the Bruins and Flames? If it's lopsided one way or the other, does Harmy lord it over Harmy? Does ...

Re: Makar Money Bag: Avalanche 2025-2026 season
We have a trade!
Avs trade defenseman Ilya Solovyov to Pittsburgh for smallish Finnish forward Valtteri Puustinen and a seventh rounder.
Solovyov came over via waivers, he was fine for a 7th defenseman. Has some puckmoving skill, but prone to the occasional Big Mistake. All in all he was ...

Re: Makar Money Bag: Avalanche 2025-2026 season
Poor Sammy Girard is just getting the business from the fans, most all of them want him gone. And it's disappointing that in light of Toews' injury, he couldn't really step up into a top-pairing role. He is a third pairing defender right now, for all intents and purposes, and that's not what he ...

Avs get back on track with an MLK Day matinee win over the Federalists of Washington, D.C., led by a Russian.
5-2 win, MacKinnon with two goals and an assist. One Avs goal was called back due to goaltender interference, and that clearly pissed off #29, after they scored again he very emphatically ...

Franchise record 11th loss in a row.
A quote from Foote, followed by a reply from our old friend Canux Luvah
He’s obviously done, and he knows it. He was promoted reportedly because of his relationship with Hughes, and now Hughes is gone and the bottom has fallen out.

Vincent BTW is killing it in Laval and is the heir apparent should MSL ever decide to leave Montreal.
The Habs organization LOVES Vincent and might pay him NHL coach money to stay in the AHL.
If he ends up being a successful coach in the NHL I’ll be 100000% convinced the owners in Lumbus are ...

I have not listened to the new podcast, I’m tempted because unlike a lot of Avs I actually like those guys. But man I’m subscribed to SO many podcasts already and I’ve renewed my current audiobook like five times now.

Death, taxes, bad jazz by Larry Dolan, and the Rangers issuing Letters to the Fans because they suck.

Re: The 2025-26 NHL Coaching Watch
Dean Evason came in as a guy who people felt didn’t get a fair shake in Minny, and now you could argue he once again didn’t get a fair shake in Lumbus. Or maybe he’s not a good coach.
Bowness is hockey’s Rasputin.

I’m sure he’s happy about it now but I remember Skip felt about Sergei the way Chris feels about Tavares.
Phenomenal player. Well deserved. I think his best line was Shanahan - Fedorov - Draper (at least that was Fedorov’s Dad’s pick) but others on here would know more than me.

Isles hang on to a nail biter, 9-0 over the Devils. No clue what Markstrom did to piss if the coach enough to keep him in for all 9. Sorokin with 45 saves. Duclair with the hat trick and two assists after being a healthy scratch for a few games. Cizikas with 2 goals. Sorokin’s 26th career shut out ...
