Re: What now?

Another clear sign the Pens are blowing it up, they do the Stars a solid and take on the final year of Matt Dumba's contract in return for a 2028 2nd rounder. They also send a scrub the other way, whatever.

Re: Kraken fire Bylsma, Ronnie Franchise gets tagged

I still don’t get what they’re doing here. Dumped Bjorkstrand and Gourde at the deadline but haven’t gone through with a full rebuild. This is still a pretty old team and they can’t bring themselves to buyout Grubbauer, who has been a massive liability in Seattle from day one.

On the plus side ...

Re: Well, now what? 2025 Avs Offseason Thread

Avs once again make a somewhat surprising move, hiring Dave Hakstol as an assistant coach to replace the fired Ray Bennett.

Unlike Bennett, Hakstol did not have any sort of rep as a power play guru, and from what I understand tends to lean toward a more conservative offensive scheme. Curious to see ...

Any relation to Evgeni?

None.

Also, he's still playing in Russia for at least one more year so this is a "loan" situation. Whatever.

Avs development camp underway and it's hard to recall a worse prospect pool than the one the Avs currently have. Top defensive prospect Sean Behrens, who of ...

And when one door closes, another opens...Avs skills coach Toby Petersen departs the organization to take the head coaching position with the Texas Stars.

Re: Duck Dynasty over?

Ducks cleared all that cap space to sign 33-year-old journeyman Mikael Granlund to a three-year contract that pays him $7 million annually.

Granlund is the odd duck (pun initially not intended, then said fuck it and went with it) who posts absolutely abhorrent underlying metrics, yet can be ...

I get it. He’s done everything right and they’re so close to winning, but just can’t get over the hump. What do you do? Have faith they’ll figure it out? Or just tinker to death?

Re: The Hard Luck Franchise

Bad offseason already for the Jackets. They overpay for Provorov by a huge margin and take on a lot of salary in Wood and Coyle. They’re a deeper team, probably a little better defensively (unless Wood is on the ice) but not demonstrably better.

They apparently scored more goals than any other ...

Re: Well, now what? 2025 Avs Offseason Thread

What they keep saying about Barre-Boulet is that he has great hands, but lousy skates. The Eagles need some depth so…sure why not.

Avs put together a team that went on one of the most dominant Cup runs in history, but their lousy drafting has left them with no room for error. And they have erred ...

I’ve been wondering for a while now if Holland just always sucked and Devellano was way more responsible for that stellar Wings run than we all realized. He, like Lamoriello, just seems clueless in the cap era.

I guess the Avs really didn't like Charlie Coyle...I know he did stick with the Boston boys while he was in town so....maybe some of these guys they brought in just weren't a good fit. There seems to be a disconnect between the players and management on this team. Miles Wood gets sent away as well ...

There he goes, see ya Dobson.

Emil Heinemann and a couple mid first rounders.

Rumblings are that Darche is trying like hell to get a second pick high enough to take Long Island native James Hagens in addition to Schaefer first overall. That'd be awesome if he can pull it off.
