Re: Leafs 2025-2026 Season

Maybe E.L. is right, Lane Lambert departing may have hurt this team more than anyone expected.

They're definitely not playing well defensively but they're also not getting anywhere near as good goaltending as they did last season either.

Re: Arthur Kaliyev investigated

Side note, I didn't know players "tipped" the trainers at the end of the year. They certainly deserve it, and it appears Rob Blake got real pissed when Kaliyev didn't pay up and basically told his agent that he was going to hold him in limbo and wouldn't let him play until he did.

Re: The Hard Luck Franchise

I read somewhere, probably Portzline, that Waddell specifically does not like injury-prone players. I’d never heard of a GM who explicitly moves that way.

Anyways, Chinakhov is a high end talent who can’t stay healthy, so I think the feeling mutual with wanting him out.

Re: The Hard Luck Franchise

With Leo Carlsson and Macklin Celebrini currently tearing up the league (Connor Bedard too), some people are noting that Adam Fantilli is off to a slow start.

Re: Makar Money Bag: Avalanche 2025-2026 season

Should be noted that Gavin Brindley, who was a prospect/tweener player they got in the Miles Wood/Charlie Coyle trade with Columbus, had himself a GAME. Bednar liked him so much tonight, he demoted Necas to the third line and put Brindley to the top unit with MacKinnon and Lehkonen. Also saw a ...

Re: Makar Money Bag: Avalanche 2025-2026 season

Back to back in Canada, a 9-1 stomping of Connor McDavid and the Oilers, followed by an OT win against the Canucks.

Go figure, they go 0-for-5 on the power play in that rout (but score a SHG) last night but score two tonight on the man advantage in Vancouver.

Damn, this kid is absolutely killing it, I don't recall the last time an 18-year-old defenseman hit the ground running in the NHL like this.

Wonder what they do with Sherwood. If it were me I'd probably sell high.

Re: The 2025-26 NHL Coaching Watch

I can't see Trotz handing someone else the ability to fire him. Maybe he'll do something more like get behind the bench again, but he'd also keep his GM job and maybe add another assistant GM, who would being ideas to Trotz to approve or reject.

I only remember it happening recently in sports ...

Re: The 2025-26 NHL Coaching Watch

Oh, one other prediction if I haven't said it already--I don't think Nill hired Gulutzan to be a long-term solution. No, I think he's an interim guy in all but name only, he just didn't want to put the real hotshot candidate that was drawing buzz from other teams, Neil Graham, in charge too soon ...

Re: The 2025-26 NHL Coaching Watch

If they shitcanned Monty THAT quickly, especially given how quickly he turned things around last season in St. Loo, that would be something.

Yeah I think based on what I'm reading, that Barry Trotz will step down from his GM position, take over the bench again, and David Poile's son will be the ...

Pens were, up until recently, the hottest team in hockey. A lot of that was due to Tristan Jarry, who is now out for some time after the 4-3 meltdown against the Leafs.
