Back in the day this guy would have been deemed NHL ready and definitely going 1st for something like this!

Not a lot of details here but this seems quite dramatic if he's not on life support.

This has to do with the insanity of the NMCs and limited trade clauses. In this (full NMC) case Panarin decided where he wanted to go....and that's what they were able to get for him with little to no say in the matter.
