So I was watching NESN yesterday during the game. Kathryn Tappen and me may have to fight.....besides that.

They made mention of rumours indicating Thomas and possibly Recchi to Washington....

I would imagine the Bruins would like a Warm Body in exchange for Thomas...but I don't know which Cap in their right mind would want to leave! I could see Steckell or Morrison coming this way if only temporarily for Morrison. We don't need any more D men. And we've already got picks.....so this one doesn't sound very realistic to me unless its someone prolific IMO like Fleischmann or Backstrom.

Are they really ready to deal Thomas and go with Rask full time?

If that happened, you'd be getting Theodore for sure. His contract expires after this season so it's no skin off of the Bruins' backs to take him back in a deal. No idea what else.

Yeah, if Chiarelli could deal Timmy today he would. Not any diss on Timmy but if any team desperately needs cap room, it's Boston.

I'd be shocked as all hell if McPhee took on that deal since it's not like Washington is rolling in cap room either. On top of that, it's a risky-as-all-hell deal with the over-35 rule in effect.

yeah that's why I mentioned Steckell and Morrison...they would seem like the only logical choices to even fit Thomas under their cap.

Yikes...it looks like they are still paying Nylander close to 5 mil for another season.

I doubt Steckel gets traded at all, the Caps love the guy, and Morrison (one "n") has played too well and at a discount price for the Caps to flip him now.

Yeah...then I have no idea how they clear space to add Thomas. Not logical. Don't rule out BU alumn Tom Poti.

Tom Poti has been one of their top defensive d-men, believe it or not. He plays against the opposition's top players.

The Caps are 17-1 since Ovechkin was named captain... why add an anchor contract, even if he is a better goalie than what you have? He's not playing his best this year, which is kind of the point of adding him, isn't it? To win THIS year?

I agree....I think the rumour is bunk.

Now...Thomas to Tampa Bay? That seems plausible in my mind. They have a need for goaltending, they have the cap space, and at least they used to have owners crazy enough to try anything. Given the ownership change though any sort of deal probably doesn't happen until the offseason.

They don't have money. That's kind of important. They got Krajicek to void his own contract to save them a few G's. I don't see how on earth they could take on a $5m goalie, unless Boston is putting a package together for Lecavalier.

Both Smith and Niittymaki have had some really good stretches this year. Smith was playing really well before his latest injury and since Smith went down Niittymaki has been absolutely on fire. I think they really like Smith and won't trade for a goalie unless Smith's injury problems don't go away.

That's just it, Smith has had all kinds of injury problems since arriving in Tampa. Frank has been as ridiculously inconsistent as you can get (against the Avs he has looked about as bad as I've seen any goalie this season), plus he's not exactly the picture of durability either. Frankly, I think Lawton's a fool if he thinks either one can get this franchise back to respectability, but then again TB's been kind of a foolish franchise for a while now.

You could very well prove to be right but IMO they are going to give Smith more chances to be the man. Either they see something special in him or they want to justify the Richards trade (maybe that changes with a new owner). Plus when Niitty is hot (see 2006 Olympics!) he's good enough to make people believe he can be the man. No goalie trades for Tampa this year IMO, unless Smith is proven to have some long term damage.

I disagree with Harmy, I think we need another solid D man...

Thomas to Chicago is what Eklund is reporting... course, he's also reporting that we're in on Whitney (meh), Mueller (yay) and Brule (splurge)...

If its Washington, give us back Shaone Morrisonn please...

I think they'd even take picks or a prospect just to move Thomas... they pretty much have to
Even if Timmay lasted the season, Rask is clearly the future, no way could Thomas be the starter next season
So they have to move him both to clear space and to let Raask take over the lion's share

So many morons on the radio today, lots of retarded rumors circulating about Timmay
The stupidest one I heard was Thomas to Columbus ... for Nash ... insert crack pipe emoticon here
The main thing they don't seem to get is that the Bruins are sellers, not buyers
Felger was talking about packaging picks with Thomas to get a player ...

:chairshot: NO! Bad dog!

Acquire picks, don't trade them ... stupid monkey

Doesn't he first have to waive his NTC?

And Razz....I watched this butt hurt situation unfold in Calgary. Last thing we need is another Stallion on the back end ruining Egos. Spend that money on a Forward.

But I like it that you disagree. I hope you like it!
