15-1-2 in 2012.

This is most impressive since the Isles have been calling up so many players due to injury, and generally mucking about with the goalies.

They've gone from last place, to 2 points out of first, with 2 games in hand on the "CT Whale" (Rangers affiliate). :woop:

2 points out, 1 game in hand. Bad stretch recently. They should be getting a bunch of young Isles soon. Wonder if it'll help or ruin team chemistry. Isles organization- it'll ruin the chemistry.

In first by 3 points. 6 games left to the season. Good chance their first round match up will be the "CT Whale", which I still think is a lame name. Jumped on that bandwagon after the Danbury Whalers came into existence & started selling shitloads of merchandise.

Anyway, that would be a great match! Isles/Rangers affiliates. :mulletbutch:

It's official- Isles/Rags affiliates meet in the 1st round. Starts Thursday. 5 game first round. I don't like short series. Should be a good match up though.

Went to the last regular season SoundTigers game yesterday. This old woman sitting next to me started a "Whales blow" chant when the announcement for playoff tickets was made... My wife looked at our daughters, then at me. I just said "you can't argue with it: Whales have blow-holes..."

Ulf Samuelson's son is on the WB Pens. I wanted to yell to him "we know your father like the dirty stuff but what about your mother?" but I had the kids...

Well, no need to continue talking to myself in here. Swept by the Rags affiliate. Two 3-0 losses & a 4-3 OT loss. Not that they could have pulled it out, but I've never been a fan of 5 game series.

Could not agree more. I even hate it in baseball. IMO a five game series advances more fluke teams than a best of seven.

Totally. Win game 1 & you almost know you're advancing, much more so than a 7 game series. There have to be stat-geeks who have %s on this, so I don't have to ASSume it's true.

It would definitely be a higher %.

Nothing to do with their run last year, but I don't feel like starting a new thread.

Taking the kid's team to play a scrimmage on the Sound Tigers' ice, after they play the CT Whale in March. Very excited for this. Did it last year & it was fun but stressful- NY Giants playoff game that night & everyone except me wanted to bolt to watch football. This year should be more relaxed/fun.

Had an incredibly fun day at the Sound Tigers/Whale game. Kids got to high-five the players (twice in some cases, depending on when they went to put their bags in the locker room). My older daughter & our goalie got to ride the Zamboni during the first intermission (said their arms hurt from waving so much  ). Had a fun intra-squad scrimmage afterward.

After the Whale won in OT (can't have a perfect night) and before our scrimmage the arena just had a curtain in the hallway between our locker room & the Whale's. A few players were doing physical therapy in the hallway & one was talking to some old friends on our side of the curtain. Not sure who he was, but he was really cool to our players, told them to play hard & have fun...

On the way out my daughter saw a few programs autographed by Nino Niedereiter sitting out on a table. She & a few team mates grabbed them.

Good time overall. And I still don't really understand the whole thing. They gave us $32 retail tickets for $15 each (we had 98), let us play for an hour afterward for free, with some staff staying on to run the clock & Zamboni has to be run again... I guess they figure they're creating more fans who will attend games, but it just seems like they'd lose a lot of money on it.
