I get the impression that Burke has fallen in love with Reimer's mental make-up(Clouts 2.0?) and suspect they will keep him around and try and bring in a more veteran type and let the Monster walk. Monster has many tools to be good just seems to remain prone to to many weak ones that go through him, suspect someone will give him a shot though.

Sean Burke would be the perfect goalie coach for him. Isn't Burke himself a Francois Allaire disciple?

Sean Burke was originally a stand-up guy who switched to butterfly and had a late-career resurgence. He's old school/new school, and seemingly has done wonders for Mike Smith. Actually I remember hearing he recommended to Maloney they sign Smith because he saw felt they had similar styles/body types.

I believe Burke was coached/transformed by Benoit Allaire, not Francois.

There's a pretty good chance both starting goaltenders from last year's Stanley Cup Finals will be on different teams next year. Wow.

I didn't want to derail the Rebuild thread in the Nucks forum, so I'm posting this here. Basically Lambert riffs on the right way and wrong way to boot your franchise goalie outta town:

Only thing I say is that taking the captaincy away was not a sign of disrespect, but rather the organization coming to its senses and realizing that painting a fake "C" on their goalie was an idiotic move to begin with.

Or, more realistically, didn't make a lick of difference, because "leadership" and the captaincy is another one of those things that matters 99% more in fans' minds than in real life.

I loved this write-up, by the way, which touches on that point:

I tried to get Ellen to write for Puck Worlds a couple years back. God damn is she good. My loss, the hockey world's gain that she's doing what she's doing.
