I completely agree that this was a nasty hit that I believe deserves a healthy suspension. I don't like Cooke, I haven't since long before he left the Canucks. However, I don't think that I'm about to use the Bruins' facebook page as a measuring stick.

Awful cheapshot, no doubt. It never ceases to amaze me just how little respect some players have for each other. Throw the book at Cooke; he should frankly get the season given his history.

1) It was a hit from behind.

2) The shot on goal occurred well in advance of the hit.

3) Savard was not in a position to defend himself.

4) Cooke didn't let up on the elbow.

Ergo, it was one of the dirtier hits I've ever seen nothwithstanding the obvious historical cases. Why there was no penalty on the call is beyond comprehension. Will this even get looked at by the league ?? An embarrassment.

In view of the recent Olympic games and comparing the two systems of refereeing side by side, it shocks and saddens me to witness how much worse the officiating is in the NHL and how this impacts the quality and flow of the game.

To echo, EL, it also shocks me how little respect the players have for one another and how dirty the NHL games is in comparison.

One of the few times my own anger nearly matches Razz's, at least as far as Cooke goes. He's definitely a piece of shit and has been for years. Sometimes I forget how easy it was to hate the Canucks when they had Bert, Cooke, and Ruutu all on the team at the same time.

C,mon Razz you're no different than Cooke,You just wish he was on your team instead,I mean for the amount of times you say I hope they cripple Crosby or you wish some ref should have died in the 911 crashes and similar bullshit you'd think Cooke was a saint compared to the shit you endorse.The pot calling the kettle black comes to mind.The hit definitely warrants a large suspension but you're just as bad if not worse Razz.

As president of the rep soccer club in Burnaby, I had to take over our u-14 team midway through this season for reasons that will interest no one... so I'm back coaching...

The referees in the u-14 division are often rep soccer neophytes... Frequently they miss a lot, and trust me, a lot of coaches are teaching dirty / cheap tactics because winning, to them, is all that matters... part of why Canada is ranked about 100th in the world rankings...

I expect my players to play hard, physical, but clean... Back down from nothing, and stand up for yourself...

If one of my players does something a little cheap, I might look the other way. I certainly dont teach it. However, I CANNOT stand dirty play, and I make that clear to them the second they do it (it rarely happens).

That said... I've also made it clear to them that if an opponent does something particularly dirty to them, or one of their teammates, then the leash is off. I expect them not to put their team or themselves in disciplinary danger, but if there's a reason and they have a chance, I'm not going to stop them from settling a score. Clean until they take liberties, at which point you can shove it up their ass if you want to...

That's how I played and that's how I coach. Period. Anyone that doesnt like it can go fuck themselves - and btw no parent has come to me with any issues with that approach...

Point being - Cooke doesnt play hard, or fair... he's a filthy sack of shit who sets out to injure opponents who are doing nothing more than playing the game. So no, Tuzer, I wouldnt want him on my team. It would sicken me if he was on my team. On the other hand, a normally clean player making an exception to either a) destroy Cooke to even things up player wise or b) destroy Crosby to even things up team wise would be just fine with me...

Again,The point is that you condone it as long as said person is on your team,Crosby had nothing to do with the play yet you want him crippled all in the name of fair play,You're full of shit Razz,You either condone it or you don't,You can't have it both ways

With regards to his history, there are very few players I have seen who make such completely reckless hits and be so surprised by the reaction to his hits. He hits guys from behind all the time, then looks so surprised at people's reactions.

Dude is either a complete fucking idiot, or just doesn't care that he's out there drilling people and hurting them. That hit to the head was so completely avoidable.

Savard has a Grade 2 and could miss the season. I think he should since it's not worth the risk rushing him back for what is pretty much a lost season at this point.
